Glad that you made it home OK. A bit of advice for those of use who deal with snow in the winter; don't let your gas tank drop under the half-way mark before filling up. You never know when you are going to spend hours stuck in the snow.
Also, get yourself one of those lithium-ion battery starters. It can help start your car but can also provide cell-phone charge for up to two days.

As stated, Long Island was taken off guard. I left work at 2:40 PM, got home at 7:30 PM?!?!?!?! 48 miles by the way, 10 MPH average. Roads where crazy from the Bronx all the way home. Not one municipality had salted the roads or deployed plows. It wasn't a ton of snow, but the roads completely iced up, no traction unless you were running studded tires (which are illegal here). I blame the Towns on the Island, could have just been a bad commute, no reason for 4" of snow to shut the whole place down. Some one dropped the ball.

A friend of mine in Stamford CT had her 20 minute drive home turned into almost 4 hours also. Unreal.
