Noise from my clutch.
 

Hi,
I am new to this forum and have a question regarding my new Harley.

I just purchased a 2017 (but new) V Rod nightrod.

While downshifting at low speed from for example 3rd to 2nd gear, with half clutch, the clutch is clicking and I can feel it in the handle as well as hear it.

It's intermittent . The dealer indicated that it's normal.

Is anyone familiar with this problem (or not a problem) and if so, what was done to remedy it?

Thanks for the reply. I believe the clutch on my bike is hydraulic, not sure if there is a cable.

How can you not KNOW this?

Even if it's hydraulic, it has a flat needle throw out bearing. It would need to be really torn up to hear it. They are very small. (Think lazy Suzanna)
Maybe that. When that go bad, clutch setting is iffy. If yours is hydraulic, may not have a setting. Trust your dealer or get a service manual. I would do the later. However, I am surprised he did not come up with a 3 figure repair.

If you are the first owner of a left over new 2017 model from a dealer I'm almost sure the bike is under warranty, why not take it to the dealer and have a tech ride it and downshift like you do, then down shift with a full clutch. Have you posted in the V-Rod sub-forums?

What exactly do you mean by half clutch? I assume you mean you fill it in handle bars.
Be sure you are pulling clutch all the way in and hit the shifter with a firm stab to the bottom. I have re-read your post. It being a new bike would not have a worn throw out bearing.
Harley transmissions gears are all engaged. What engages each range is a sliding ring with 6 huge keys that pop into gear and lock it to the shaft. If you do not stab it, the clicking is thoes keys hitting and not dropping in. Don't do that. Hit it. Outboards on boats are similar.
If you been doing that long, I would have the change transmission fluid at first service.
