Default How can I tell if I have a 103 or 96?

So I got my 07 UC a few months ago, my first Harley coming from sport bikes. I got it for a good deal and it has some upgrades, cams, pipes etc. I remember on the original ad that it said it had a 103. Not knowing the differences in engines sizes over the years, I thought that was the factory size, then after I bought it I discovered the stock size was a 96 for that year. I never even addressed it when I bought the bike. Noob move I know but I didn't get screwed on the price and it runs like a dream, I just want to know if I actually have a 103 or if I actually have a 96. Not a huge deal, I just want to actually know what i have. I even tried calling him about a month after I bought it but never got a response. Is there any easy way of determining this without tearing it apart?

No way to tell that I'm aware of by just looking at it externally.

My advice is to just ride it and enjoy it.

Maybe run the VIN. I’m pretty sure it’s a 96” though.

I'm not sure if you can spot a difference here:

it will be a 96" unless it has had a 103" kit installed.

Seventh digit of the VIN if it's still stock:

103's have compression releases, 96's don't. Look on top dead center of the head for a wired solenoid.

Having owned both a 96" and a 103", IMHO, there's not a whole lot of difference really. Just ride it and enjoy it.
