MENOMONEE FALLS, WI—The union that represents most of Harley-Davidson’s manufacturing plant employees in Wisconsin says the company is out of touch with the workers by making the current contract talks more about an hourly wage than workforce issues.

According to an April 8 report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, United Steelworkers Local 2-209, which represents about 730 employees at Harley’s factory in Menomonee Falls, turned down a five-year contract offer that included a 14 percent wage increase over five years and significant pension enhancements for current employees.

Harley said the average wage for current, regular full-time bargaining unit employees under the first year of the deal would be more than $33 an hour in the Milwaukee area and more than $25 in Tomahawk, WI.

 

I got my last bike April of 2007, after the strike. But there were so many dumb screw ups, I wonder if disgruntled workers.

Lock on trunk upside dumb. Cable routing shut it down days before the trip I bought it for. The rest was just the 07 quirks.

My point was, don't buy a bike plus or minus 6 months of a strike.

Sounds like the workers are a bunch of ingrates.

 

I can say for a fact that those rates in those areas are pretty damn good. Especially Tomahawk.

 

I'm pretty sure cost of living for the area where the work is has something to do with the hourly rates.

 

The more money the middle class makes the more they spend, the better the economy does. Trouble is the fat cats at the top want their millions so the price of the bike goes up.
