OEM seat prices higher on ebay than dealer?
So i noticed something strange as i was looking for a solo touring seat. Why are used seats so higher when you can buy them new. Am i missing something.

People think they have a gold mine and hope a sucker will come along

Before buying anything off E bay, I always check the dealers brand new price. Most of the time you can get new for less than E bay.
|
i always search the entire web for the best deal possible. i know some people dont care and just buy what they see.

couple things, the seat that you linked to ebay vs the seat that you linked on the hd site are not the same seat. the p&a seat you linked is all vinyl. the cvo seat in the first ad is leather with vinyl sides. a better comparison would be the black cvo seat from the 2012 roadglide that runs msrp $388. still, new is $11 cheaper than the used item here.

because it's an oem part. you have to use the partsfinders fiche to find the part numbers. for actual descriptions, you have to look at the sales brochures for the bikes. when you buy the seat, it comes with a tag hooked to it that talks about leather, leather care, etc...

Ebay is a great resource, but buyer beware.

$29 for a USED gasket that costs $12 new at Ronnie's |
Hate to say but if somebody is that dumb to may more for a used something compared to buying it brand new at the dealership, you deserve to get ripped off.

Who the HELL buys a USED gasket anyway??

If you're patient, you can find cheap stock seats at swap meets and CL.

I have a NOS still in the plastic CVO heated seat with the Osterich inlay. It retails for $999.99. I will gladly sell it for $1499.99.
Some people think everything HD is gold. |
Also, just because it's listed at certain price doesn't mean it's selling at that price. Whenever I list something on ebay, using the 'sold' filter lets me see what items are really selling for and price accordingly.
