I hang the “out of service” helmets on my garage wall. Lots of memories connected to each one. Although the older I get, I’m finding it difficult to remember which helmet with which memory. Ha! I have the space on the wall, so they’re wall art I guess. Until I finally decide to toss ‘em.

A helmet that old has lost some of its resiliency, and should not be worn by anyone that wants it for protection.

if you're worried about it being unsafe it probably shouldn't be given away to end up for sale on someone's ebay site.........

cut the straps.....use it for a target.....flowerpot.......grain scoop..........whatever

Thanks for the replies. I hate to see it in a landfill but that is the most likely scenario.
Kinda like a used toilet. It still may be functional but nobody wants it.

Target practice. How many rounds of .357 to destroy it? Hmmm

See if your nearest fire dept wants it. They use them for training sometimes.

Foam breaks down over time, so instead of it cushioning your head when it smacks the pavement, your head just hits the hard helmet instead. Not much difference there between no helmet and helmet.

It starts by continually breaking curfew. Then hanging out with the wrong crowd, smoking, drinking, etc. .....

Cut the straps off and throw it in the garbage.
Cutting the straps off prevents someone from pulling it out of the trash and reselling it..

A used helmet is like your used underwear...the flower pot suggestion is best.
