Has anyone seen something like this before?

Uncle G. 06-13-2019 10:04 AM

Looks like road hazard damage to me.

sechracer 06-13-2019 01:56 PM

Seen it before on cars/trucks. looks like you clipped a bolt or something... +1 to what Uncle G. said

Right, not a defect, you certainty clipped something in the road.

rk classic.

Idunno. Kind of looks like a doctored picture to me. I'm leaning towards calling fugazi on this one.

ForeverHD1959 06-13-2019 03:03 PM

Road damage is what I thought as well. Might park it until I can get a new tire. Thanks

kngpn 06-13-2019 03:13 PM

yeah I'd get that fixed asap. That's a nice chunk out of the sidewall

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that won't buff out.

NORTY FLATZ 06-13-2019 03:18 PM

That tire looks like it's almost brand new. I see HUGE chicken strips on it.
The abrasion looks to be from maybe mounting/installing something on/in/around the rear fender area.

Or, is it a front wheel position?

Oh, welcome to the site.

EDIT~Upon further examination, that looks to be a manufacturer's defect. Might want to see what Dunlop says...

ForeverHD1959 06-13-2019 04:21 PM

Thanks. And yes, it's on front tire. I have no idea what caused that. I'm sure I'd remember hitting something that severe. I might've bought it with that already there. If so, l like my "corider" lol

Kind of looks like someone ran a wire wheel on it.
