Let me ask what could be a stupid question but hey, maybe it'll provide someone some humor on a shitty day. Is a V&H FP3 considered a cheap tuner? Be gentle, I've only been riding less than 2 years, never worked on motorcycle before then, and last time I did any mechanical work for a living the new cars were 1977s.

Not a stupid question. Yes, relatively speaking, the FP3 is considered inexpensive. And if you're not planning on doing a whole lot of motor work, and never plan to have a full dyno tune, they work pretty well from what I've heard.
QNman, thanks. I will get the more expensive tuner when I get my engine built up if I can ever save the money. Other stuff keeps breaking and costing a fortune! I was hoping to get a 107" build this winter but now I have to spend a bunch on electrical problems.

You'll need something more robust when you go to a 107" build, but if you're just doing an intake and exhaust, the FP3 should be adequate. Hell, you might even decide you like it well enough to skip the 107". After my cams, the plan was to finish up going to a 110" kits with heads, higher compression, etc. But I'm so happy with the bike the way it is, I decided I didn't want to mess with it any more. It's anvil reliable, and more than up to the task of touring.
OP, just head over to Wild West HD. While you are waiting for them to fix your bike, just walk over to Joe’s and get some crabs and have a few cold ones.
