I have a 07 Fatboy with Vance and Hines big shot exhaust, big sucker air filter and Vance fuel pack. The bike runs much cooler and faster with the changes. The problem is the sound of the pipes. They sound like a Honda at low speeds. It sounds great at idol. I was told that I could not run the bike without the baffles or could do damage to the engine. I cut some of the baffle tring to improve the sound but it had no effect. Any ideas?

Before you keep hacking away at your new exhaust try having someone ride your bike so you could listen to it from a distance. You will probably be surprised on how good it sounds. What it sounds like on and off your bike are 2 different sounds. If it sounds good at idle and it's a Harley it should sound great at low speed also....not like a Honda anyway.

If you're hoping tohear the famous"HD Idle", forget about it.

You've got a Twin Cam engine. It's smoother, more efficient and soundsdifferently at idlethan the Evolution engine and other previous models. It alsoidles at950-1000 RPM.

There's other threads regarding this question, search the forums.

I have the big radius pipes. I think the sound of the rheinharts are deeper and louder. I got my pipes for the looks. If I switch I will buy the rheinharts.

I got the BRs, and other than a sharper note I still got the 'tater' lope.
