Colorado Riding
Just back from a week of riding Colorado-no words can express how great it is. However, I don't see how Colorado riders can live with the pinging from a stock bike. My bud and I were each on 2007 Eglides and the pinging was awful. Each shop we stopped at said this was part of the package in Colorado. They all said SERT plus Dyno ($800) would solve the problem. I love my Glide but if I lived in the mountains I would go a different way. An owner of any brand should not have to spend additional $$ to get their bike to run right. Shame on Harley. I know this is a result of tough EPA standards but still no excuse to put out a product that slowly destroys itself.

RE: Colorado Riding
Have no pinging here. Have owned numerous carbed and FI H-D's, including FL models, at amost 9000 ft. elev. Ride between 5000 and 11000 feet all the time. Have not done the SERT to any of the FI bikes. No pinging issues, not only with H-D but other makes in the barn here.

I am in Colorado. One of the guys I ride with said the same thing yesterday. He has an 07 Electriglide and he said the pinging is terrible. His dealership said it should be fine but if anything happens they would replace the Engine. My 07 Fat Boy is fine.

What I hear from my dealer is that the bikes are setup for us highcountry people by the dealers before we buy them to handle the altitude. Not sure if its true or not but thats the word on the yard around here, I'm in Loveland, CO.

Four of us from San Diego attended the HD Forums Mini Rally in Co. Multiple years of bikes (one '07 SG).None of us experienced any pinging. You can't get much more extreme than sea level to 12,000'.
