That's sort of an age old question. Perhaps it's because people are willing to buy anything and everything they manufacture.

Gosh I'm not anywhere near the most tenured person on this forum and even I'm already tired of seeing this subject! [sm=outcold.gif]

Nothing personal Motorsportman, just a bit of a vent.

They'll charge $20k so long as folks like you and me are willing to pay $20k.
If they could charge $40k and still sell...they'd charge $40k.
Don't let anyone fool you into thinking Harley's in business to make friends.
It's all about the almighty dollar.

So...why do they charge $20k?
Because they can.
Don't look for your HD to have anything extra special on it likeplatinum wheels, or solid gold handlebars to make it worth more than the other brands on the market.

20K is just the price of admission into the organization. Now for the monthly dues... chrome, gadgets, leathers, shirts, and just for you Blackmouth, beef jerky and coffee...

Hey, it costs a lot of money to take the extra wheels off so it only has two. They have tochop the doors, hood and truckoff, cut the seats down, take off/cut downthe windshield,take off theheat and AC and tons more stuff. All this labor isn't free!

I wish i could've bought mine for $20k. I was more like 24k out the door. I can easily think of $10K more stuff now that I actually have the bike.

Hello Motosportman;

That’s why the sign above the parts and accessory counter reads “Abandon all hope ye who purchase here.” Soon you will be just like the rest of us and will have places like Zanotti HD and Chicago HD on speed dial. You will find your self combing the Internet for good deals on chrome and accessories. It is almost an addiction or at least it would seem to be.

Good luck with it.
