Default Saw the Softail Standard in person Saturday

And, I gotta say...it looked more like a Honda VLX than a real Honda does. There was absolutely nothing Harley about it...except the price.
Never thought I would say this, but I would own rice before I bought a new Softail Standard...the Roadstar,V-Max, Triumph Rocket 3 or the Valkyrie look SO much better than this abomination. What were they thinking when they designed this monstrocity?

I went to an HD dealership Saturday after not being in one for four or five years and I thought the same thing. Most of their bikes look like Japanese bikes now.

Well, it’s obviously to satisfy the complainers who say Harley-Davidson needs to build the same bike everyone else builds.

Personally I like it. All except the smaller fuel tank. A good platform for the guy that ones to make it his own without breaking the bank.

Talked to a guy who owns one and he and his dad who also ride a Softail did a Ket West ride prior to Covid. He was all smiles.

None of them are for everyone.

Default Softail

I looked at one and the Streetbob awhile bike test rode the bob. They feel small have a Sportster peanut sized tank and the rear fender looks like a drunk designed it . Honda looking they are wouldnt have one and the dealer offered me a super deal on the Standard . They do run good though !

If they’d put the imitation fat bob tank and instrument cluster from the Deluxe/Heritage, I’d like it a lot better.

Street Bob is pretty popular with the young crowd out here in SoCal. See more of them out in the wild than any of the other M8 softails. Will probably be seeing more LRS as guys move up from their Dynas while still mimicking the club look that's popular here.

Not a fan of the rear fender and the tank is too small.

Too similar to the street bob, not a fan of either of these versions. The only Softails of the m8 varieties I like are the Deluxe and the LRS, and maybe the Sportglide if they painted the bags to match the bike.

Street bob should have went with the dyna. The current concoction should have been the standard.
