Have a search for Crossthread Cycle. They make a much improved brake pedal for your bike. It's easier to hit, bigger and looks better. They also make excellent mini footboards and a gear lever, all matching. Highly recommended.

You can also adjust the pedal on your bike up a bit to make it easier to hit as well.
