Sounds like part of learning to me. It's better to have this happen during practice than in a busy street.

When he was young, a friend's dad picked his mom up for their very 1st date on his bike. They got out to the stop light and he dumped it right there with her on it! Imagine his horror!! Theysurvived it and movedon to have 5 kids and a couple of grandkids. Happy ending.
Now that's some funny stuff right there I don't know... but that made me laugh. Makes me think of all the stupid things that happen to us while we're trying to impress the ladies

..... I DIDN'T DROP IT...........
Yeah, that's what I said when I got to work onMY then new bike andput down the kickstand (or so I SWEAR I did) ......

I will NEVER do that again. Yup. A learning experience.
Give the man a t-shirt and welcome him to the club. I've had the Fatboy since 2004 and never dropped it once, I have the Glide for a few months and did what Perch done....with an audience.

This seems to happen very frequently here in the forums, so don't feel alone as there are many threads dealing with the same type of accident, but I don't know if I would call it a 'normal part' of learning to ride.

I know of many long time riders that have never dropped or laid a bike down, so it's something that doesn't happen to everyone.

Main thing is that you learn from your mistake, and it's good to hear there wasn't more damage to either you or the bike.

I'm curious though, when the bike went over did the 'bank angle sensor' do it's thing and actually shut the bike down? I've never actually ran a test, but the sensor is suppose to shut the bike down if you go beyond a 45 degree angle with the bike running.

Trust me, the "bank angle sensor works".

Personally, I don't see trying to learn on a brand new bike.

Someone please tell me this is all part of learning to ride and owning a motorcycle so I don't feel like the total dumbshit I do right now.

I guess I shouldn't run out and get anything fixed on it. I may damaged it up some more. [&o]
Coyote,
There are 2 kinds of riders in this world. Those that have dropped their bikes, and those that will. Welcome to the club.
