Okay, it appears to be a bit of a "confession" time so here is one…
When I come home from any ride, I almost never drive right into the garage. I would typically ride around the neighborhood, is local small Park, or something additional.
And here is where the confession comes in, when I come from a long ride like from across the USA/Canada I do the exact same thing. After logging thousands of miles I will not, not, not ride directly home and into the garage. It will be around a local park as referenced above or a few laps around the neighborhood ride into the garage.
Like what bduds65 said above, "… laugh if you want…". It is what it is.

Chris you would enjoy the Needles this time of year - it's popping with color and just past peak. It's different here, the pines stay green but the other trees turn yellow/gold and they really stand out. Too cold to ride today, 44, foggy with misting rain. 70 degrees in RC and dirt biking on Sunday, the weathers going to turn back to fall again.

After a good long ride in the summer will come home grab a shower then head to the garage with a cigar and a couple of beers.
I will still her it ticking and making some noises.
Kinda cool.

Wife and I each have our own motorcycles. We've only been riding 8 or 9 years, so we're still fairly new. I think "Intermediate" is the word.
There have been rides where everything was perfect. The weather was sunny and just the right temperature. The road was good. No gravel or potholes. No cars around or they gave us the space we need (no "pushing" or cutting us off). We did the turns and leans as we should etc etc. You just have that awesome feeling that it just doesn't get any better than this and it was clearly a great ride.
Hokey and laugh if you want, but we've actually done high-fives after we pulled into the garage & kickstands down. Non riders wonder what the big deal is LOL

This, to me, this sums it up in a nutshell. My wife and I each ride our own, she is my favorite person to ride with....when everyone else is 'too busy' or 'it's too sunny, or too cold, you're leaving that early/late, you're going to ride 200 miles?' She is always ready to go with me anywhere, anytime, we've headed out when it looks like rain, when it's in the 40s knowing it'll warm up. Maybe it's the newness with us too, we're in our 50s but started (back from earlier days)really riding the last 5-6 years. We put more miles on then all of our friends combined. We have expanded our group to include like-minded people who enjoy riding almost as much as we do, a couple of them boat as well so that seems to get in the way sometimes. Ok I'm rambling, anyways, ride on, and be safe!
