I for one dont want to be financing a bike at 7% or more WITH excellent credit.
They offered me 2.99%, and they down to 1.99% for some bikes now.

A few weeks ago I began reading some threads and commenting because I wanted to upgrade from a 2020 114 heritage classic. Nothing wrong with the bike I just wanted something new. I picked up the Heritage during the covid recovery and it was the one of the only few bikes on the floor.

The 2024 SG caught my eye. I went to a dealer about 60 miles from my house and they just received a Whiskey fire/black SG.
I like the new add ons for the 2024 and willing to be a "tester". I hope I dont regret it.
I really didn't care about financing and I just did Eaglemark because I think it favors my trade. My CU beats them every time and I can pay it down quicker. I usually wait a few months and switch over to them.
I got good money for my trade. The dealer waived the set up and I got about 1000 off the bike.
I got some nice Krome Works slip ons and thats about it.
I didn't even have my trade with me...they are coming to pick it up and drop off the bike this weekend.

And just like posted above the sales folks hammered me on a 2023....good interest rates....lots off the msrp. I stuck to what I wanted.
Good thread! Nice reading!

You ~might~ be right, but I'd like to see some facts on this. My suspicion is that many more exit the two wheel market entirely rather than downsize.

I think you are correct on this. I would wager long time Harley riders are not going to trade their RGs, Ultras, SGs for a Honda Rebel 500 or similar. They might and many do trade down for a Heritage or similar Softail. Lots of RG/SG guys traded or are trading for a Low Rider ST as they find their mega mile road trips and now 75 mile sunny Sunday trips out and back.

I have two buddies who are couple years older than me a 65 that have gotten out of riding all together and now looking are some 4wheel toys to get their kicks. One buddy bought a Shelby Cobra replica and the other a Sunbeam Tiger. Both have me thinking of getting out on my terms rather than being forced to.

Hmmmm . . . Let's all check back on HD and the showroom inventory in May and again in August.
While there may be leftover 2023 models in the showroom, I have yet to see any new unsold 2022 or 2021 new models on the floor, so I guess they sell them all eventually.

Well, then, technically there's another bike that Harley makes that pretty well suits that niche. The Pan America. It doesn't have that cyclops fairing, and it's one hell of a lot lighter (550 lbs), and it's a great touring bike, and with the aluminum luggage it'll hold a small apartment's full of stuff in each side case.

(Just because it CAN go off-road, doesn't mean you have to, it makes a great street-only touring bike from all reports).

Depending on the state they're in, some dealers have to pay taxes on their inventory, no matter what year it is.
You may find the markdown to be near the amount it would cost them to keep it.
