Default Weird Red Wire

Hello,

I have a red wire that is just dangling. It looks like it was attached at one point, but I'm not sure where it needs to be re-connected. Any thoughts?

2011 Harley 883 Sportster Super-low.

Just a guess from reading and watching this video, but this is an ABS scan tool. I think that plug is for the hooking up to monitor the AFR on a bike.

AFR sensors

Default Red Wire

I should probably just leave it alone. I ran the bike for a few minutes and all seemed well, but I wasn't very thorough. Thanks!

Does your bike have the sensors in the headers? Also seems odd there would be only one plug...is there another red wire with the same pug in that harness?

O2 sensors require two and or more wires depending on type, not just one.

Right, thats why I asked abiout the other plug in my last comment. Maybe its connected to one of the sensors or tucked up in the harness or torn/cut off? It does look like the same type plug in the link to jpCycles i found.

I've never owned a Sportster, so not sure they have sensors, but I assume they would.

It's a bomb. The dealer diffused it for you.
They'll hook it up again right after the warranty runs out.

I believe that wire was used for the primary oil heater. The heater was probably removed but they left the wire. Just a guess, though.
