Vented externally but what about carbon deposits now?

I've done something similar many times with good result. Once the bike is warmed to operating temperature remove the air cleaner and while the bike is at a fast idle use a spray bottle to spray a mist into the carb (haven't done on a injected bike). When the motor starts to bog down either back off on your spraying or increase the engine speed. Looking into the plug hole before and after it's obvious the steam does clean some. Not sure if it is better or worse than chemical cleaners.

As a teenage lad, I had a buddy whose brother was very capable mechanic.
He had an engine analyzer (SUN?) and would get people's cars running at their peak.
I would sometimes see him get a V8 on the boil, then dribble water right down its throat.
Anybody remember this method of steam de-carbonizing?

In the early 70's we were using trans fluid or water to help de carbonize pistons.
It seemed to help with dieseling or run on (automotive) after cutting the engine off.
The hotspots from carbon seemed to cause the motor to try and keep running and many times knocking.
We got to where we were doing this with a tune up for a couple of years are so just cause.
Never saw this on bike tho.
