I renewed my national just to get the upgraded road service. I don't belong to a local chapter as I prefer riding alone and not in groups.

My Hog Membership anuual dues came last night dont know if going to renew love the mags but dont if it is worth 45.00 what is your opions thanks
Perhaps you got your first year free with the '07 Glide? So, beyond the magazines, did you join your local HOG group? Do you buy a lot of stuff at the dealer and would that 10% discount (if your dealer offers it to HOG members) make a difference to you? Is it important to you to feel you're a part of HarleyWorld? Did you attend any state rallys or other HOG sponsored events? If most of these are a no, you don't need it.

For my part, I don't participate in the local HOG (dominated by an old clique), don't ride with them (dangerous), don't buy enough Harley stuff for the 10% to make any difference, have never felt a part of HarleyWorld, and don't attend big rallys or bikefests. For $7 a year I added motorcycle towing to my AAA coverage. If I buy a new Harley, I'll get a free 1-year membership. If I don't, I won't need it.

I don't participate in the local chapter, but I do enjoy the mags and the 10% discount at a regional dealership. My local dealer won't give the discount.

$45 bucks isn't much... I get that much enjoyment from the mags.

For me the Fly 'N Ride is worth it every year. It's alot easierand cheaper to rent when I'm travelling than going and renting directly from the dealer (although the Fly 'N Ride sites are fewer). I haven't had to use the other items yet.

No HOG membership...no chapter membership...no chapter membership...no ride outs!

Least thats how it is supposed to work.

Most folks call it pyramid selling, a way to tie you in, tie you down and get your money before you realise what's happening.

Harley Davidson call it a FAMILY

I personally think if you own a Harley you should belong to HOG membership for free and not gouge us for the $45. With that said, the only reason I have it is for the 10% discount which can add up quickly.

Others may feel differently but I think the state rallies suck and they charge you extra for them to attend.

obviously, it's not for everyone.... just like one model bike or manufacturerisn't for everyone.....

if you like the mag, camaraderie, rides or "family"....... then it's for you... if not - then it's not.
