I had a great time on my first rally, even though I had to bail out after lunch and head home for the wifes Christmas party.

At the risk of being strung up by the forum, can I ask why we ran 10-15 mph under the speed limit, even on the open 4 lane highway with no traffic? Yes I'm a newbie around here, but I gotta ask.

Thanks for the pictures. I really wanted to make the trip but I'm not ready for long rides. Next year for sure.

Default RE: florida rally pics or"can't please everyone."

Usually, there is a ride leader or 'Captain'. Again usually (sometimes?)...the leader will
tell everyone His/Her plans.....I.E. if a part of the group gets hung up at a traffic light "We
will pull over and wait."...or they may let everyone know what the riding conditions will be "what speeds"..."staggered riding"..."hand signals"...who "the chase" bike will be.....
just general rules of engagement type of stuff.
I do not know what the speeds were (having not been there).....but maybe the leader
was trying to keep everyone together? You may have wanted to ask the leader on
the day it happened.....andthe reply may have been "You don't like the way I ride,
pass me....or else YOU lead next time." Then of course if you ride too fast for the rest
of the group...
.....you ride alone.

Glad to see the pics and it looks like a good time was had. Congrats on a successful
outing.

Chuck

D- no worries! its a fair question.
I cannot speak for Hugo our road captain. however, I was somewhat involved in the pre-ride mtg and I don't recall speed issues discussed. most everyone agrees it was a little slow in the beginning - IMO, just to keep the group together and geta sure feel for the how the group is riding. he was openlyreceptive to my communicating to him that the whole group could ride at a faster pace safely. which sorta happened just before lunch.

I can guarrentee that the return trip home was at a clip you would of enjoyed - sorry you missed that half.

- road captain ain't an easy task, especially for afirst time fair sizegroup - not a job I want.

Just like we've already started to discuss next years rally there will be plenty of suggested improvements for our whole experience!

see you there

I assume you mean your experience? if so you've got less than a year to practice - so get rollin and safe travels man!
