To each his own.

If you do this, for safety's sake, make the horns impact detachable in some way. IF they are attached firmly, you're looking at a broken neck even with a low speed lay-down. All it will take is for a horn to snag asyou're sliding/whatever.

Yeah I had already thought about making them for easy break-away for if my head had to hit the ground.

We dont have a helmet law in my state yet, but it's probably only a matter of time. So if it did get passed, this would likely be something I'd wear all the time, lol.

I seem to remember reading a rumor somewhere that the government was looking to pass a federal helmet law that would apply to every state... anyone heard of this or know of any relative links or info?

That's about as smart as a large spike on the top of a German helmet.

First, and most importantly, don't listen to anyone ... if you think making a helmet like that is a good idea, then more power to you ... do it!

As for my personal opinion - which you shouldn't give two ***** about - if I saw anyone riding down the street wearing a helmet like that, I'd most likely laugh so hard that I'd fall off my bike, killing myself in the process ...

Well, I came in to this expecting that some would laugh, lol. I kinda have to. Everyone's tolerance for things impractical or out of the norm is going to be different But to the ones that think its cool it would be worth it.

Plus, to top off the medieval motif, I have a 20x 34 inch piece of handforged, riveted chainmail I plan on covering the back section of my motorcycle Jacket with. I just havent figured out how I'm going to attatch it yet without ruining the jacket permanently with big holes..... I think maybe some heavy duty waxed leatherworking thread and a big suture needle, and just stick to where theres already existing threads.

i'm sure youre not the first horney biker,,,,go for it ....if there was some way to get some pic's of the reactions from folks when they see it.....i like the medicine man motif myself with the buffalo horns....just tell the animal rights folks that if we weren't supposed to kill animals they wouldnt have been made to taste like meat....i put a stuffed toy monkey in the front of my chaps looking out and ask people to pet my monkey at red lights.....its all about having fun.....

Chainmail on the back is going to pull the jacket way down in the back unless it is zipped all the way up. Go light on what you use oradd some amount of weight to the front to keep it balanced.

I would say go for it. If you think its cool and you like wearing it, who cares what any one thinks. I think its money. Where are u getting that helmet from? I got a good friend that would love that for x-mas.
