need a tire education-sizes, wall markings
D407 130/70R18 63V - front
D407 170/60R17 78H - rear
Can someone breakdown the way to read a tire's information? I assume D407 is the manufacturers; model, 130 or 170 would be tire width?, 70 or 60 would be sidewall height, r17 or r18 would be speed rating. no idea what the 63v or 78h mean. not sure if this is correct?

some other important numbers that one needs to pay attention is the D.O.T. number. Did you know that you can tell how old your tires are just by looking at the DOT number? The last four digits in the DOT number are the date of manufacture. For instance (1905 would be the 19th week of 2005), (2700 would be 27th week of 2000). Whenever you buy new tires, check this number to see if they are actually new, or have been sitting in some warehouse for the past five or six years.
If you click the link in BG Weasel's post, you can see that that Dunlop tire's DOT number ends with 3000. 30th week of 2000. If you bought that particular tire today, it would be almost EIGHT years old already. Just food for thought.
