I have had my bike for a year, I have washed it once. I find if you wipe it down with a microfiber towel and some spray detail you can go quite a while between washes. I still like to fully detail the bike twice a year.

I keep mine pretty clean, but within reason, I think. I like the look of a sparkling bike and it doesn't take that much effort to keep it that way. Every couple of months, I do an intense wash, polish and wax.

My scoot, like my guns, are cleaned every time I use them.
Dunno about you, but I can't afford the time or money to clean a bike every day...

Dude, you ride a Harley, a symbol of independence and individuality. You should take a little bit of pride in your investment and self image. Remember: You only have one
chance to make a good first impression. Do you let your car stay unwashed for weeks ata time?Do you only shower or shave once a week? If this is all true, than why did you bother to ask such a girly question? If you don't give a s**t about how you or the things you own appear to people, why ask the
question?

On the other hand, I will assume that you are a classy guy,
and that's why you asked the question. You know, a lot of
people would kill just to own a Harley. Here's a pic of my buddy's Heritage. It's five years old, with nearly fifty thousand
miles on it, so he's no ***** when it comes to riding. He's
invested a lot into it, and always keeps it clean and shiny.
(You'd be surprised how fast a microfiber rag and some Windex
on your chrome can clean up your bike.) In the last two
years, his softail has also taken a dozen 1st and second place
trophies at major west coast bike shows. See his bike below.
This pic was taken two weeks ago. Nice for 50K miles, huh?

Hey, you're a cool Harley guy. Have you ever met a cool slob?
Be cool, fool.

Other than the rain, my car has been washed twice. It's a truck, it's for hauling chit not looking pretty. I shower daily so I don't smell, but screw the shave - I dig out the straight razor maybe twice a week.

As for the individualism - part of that is how you choose to care for your bike. Personally, I think people that clean it every time they ride it are going to an extreme I find silly - mine is a daily rider, cleaned after major rainstorms or when I ride in the snow, I can't waste that much time each day to polish chrome.

And yes, some of the coolest people I've met have been slobs. To each his own.

edit: Also, to clean it, I have to ride it somewhere - no hoses allowed where I live.

I don't wash my bike or my truck and you can't make me! I just don't have the time or the desire. If it's nice enough outside to wash it I normally wind up riding it.
