I guess it's a "look" thing. It offers little protection. Too hot in the summer to wear over a tee shirt. And without a tee shirt, that only looks good on girls! Now that look I like! I try to make my self wear my HD mesh jacket. At least it has some lightweght armor, Ventura jacket, got it on sale, 20% off of $99. A good buy.

 

I wear a vest whenever I go fly fishing.

 

I have one with all the club patches,type patches and pinson it... but, I feel kinda silly wearing it.

 

Mostly just on club rides.

 

I have 3..
One has my HOG stuff on it 86 to present........Wall/closet hanger.....
Then there is my 1st strap....I wore 79-88...cut off jean jacket....only if it could talk.....
Then a leather one from 88-97 or so.....few fun times.....

Now I might wear one if I feel like it over my riding jacket....Maybe....All depends on the mood....

 

I usually only wear one on an event ride.

 

Wear one year round, have for over 35 years the key thing is pockets never have enough pockets.

 

I don't normally go for stuff that has Harley Davidson plastered all over it, not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just something I don't go for. BUT, lol, I looked for almost a year for a denim vest so I could carry smokes and other odds and ends, like my normal glasses. It took so long because I'm hard to fit, long torso, fat little belly..Anyway, I bought one of the MoCo's demin vests and it's very nice. I wear it during the warmer months and never get to hot. It fits me perfectly, keeps my shirt clean,and dosen't smash my smokes or my glasses, and has a bunch of pockets. I know, I know, get a small handle bar bag or something, which I have, but I like packing the vest, plus, I just like the look of denim.

 

Good answer prospect. I used to wear a denim one as well. They do serve a purpose.

 

I used to not wear a vest until I was riding down I66 one day and a truck kicked a rock into my chest. It left a nasty welt. So I got a nice vest from Fox Creek Leather. Even though the protection is minimal, it helps. Plus I love having the extra pockets.

So yeah, I wear one over a t-shirt in the hot months. And it does not hurt to keep some wind off the core body when it gets cooler at night.

And my girlfriend thinks I look hot in it.....so what the hell?
