I can't see any negs on it. It has become common place now to get the VIN and run a CarFax on it to protect you from buying someones junk.

You should be fine. The buyer has more to lose WITHOUT getting the VIN than you would lose as a seller giving it out.

I wouldnt make a practice of it, but any VIN is available just by walking up to the vehicle and writing it down.
It is&nbsp\\;in plain sight on both cars and bikes.

I see the buyer trying to make sure you are not scamming him.... There is nothing you can do with a VIN alone, at least not without a matching title.&nbsp\\;

I can't say for a bike ....
But with an auto as Deadman said, you can walk up to any auto and write the Vin number down from the windshield.
The problem with that is there are crooks that have been doing just that, and then going to a dealership with a sob story
and getting a new key made / programed from the Vin number ...then guess what the next day your car/truck is gone !
So its a good idea on your cage to cover that Vin number so you cannot read it from outside the car.

WOW! Some states or dealerships must be slacking! Whenever I have needed keys replaced, I needed title in hand with ID.

Not an expert on the VIN deal so I won't attempt to lead you in the wrong direction......&nbsp\\;Just had to give you a hard time about the quote below...
&nbsp\\;
"Don't worry, its not for my Nightster"
&nbsp\\;
You sure you aren't selling your Nightster on Craigslist?&nbsp\\; Saw one on there with your avatar picture in the classified ad.&nbsp\\; Just giving you a hard time....&nbsp\\;If you are selling then do what you have to do and good luck!!!&nbsp\\; &nbsp\\;
