Newbie seat advice, please
As a H-D newbie I'd really appreciate some advice about seats.
I recently bought a Fat Bob, which I really love. My wife had been used to riding on the back of my Yamaha XJR1300 (which I traded in for the Harley) and I ordered a Sundowner seat which I thought would be ideal for her as pillion accommodation on the stock seat is pretty spartan.
We went out for a ride last weekend, and after about an hour she was literally in agony – she's used to the riding position on the Yamaha, where the foot pegs were more directly underneath her and she could shift her weight a bit if she needed to – on the Harley they're a bit more forward. She felt stuck in one position and found that because the Sundowner is quite wide, it cut off the circulation at the tops of her legs.
Also – and I'm wondering if this is the main problem – I don't yet have a backrest on the bike (there's only one type available in the UK at the moment for the Fat Bob, and we thought we'd wait for the new catalogue to come out in August) – so she's bound to have a slight feeling that if she shifts around too much, she'll fall off the back!
I said I thought it would be a lot better with a backrest, and that with a Harley she'll probably have to get used to a more leant-back sitting position: but she doesn't want to end up sitting on her 'tailbone' because of a long-standing back problem.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? I don't want to end up finding that I've bought a bike only I can ride.

RE: Newbie seat advice, please
Backrest will help a lot.Wider foot pegs help also. The wider the pillon the better. She can lean forward with backrest and feel safer and not be on tailbone. Also gel and air pads are good idea.Mustang seat pillon is great.

I used \\;FL \\; pass. floor boards on my 03 WG. they \\;were a little pricy though but my wife loves them. Try a Chicago dealer about 20% off list.

The Harley seats are made for looks only not comfort, get \\;a Corbin seat you won't be disappointed. \\; I wish I got a Corbin for my FJR after riding my Harley with one.
