RE: Any Drive Ins left?
There is a double screen in Gibson City, IL. \\; Went to a couple movies last year. \\; Nice place and good time to relax and cook-out before the movie.

RE: Any Drive Ins left?
Up to 3 or 4 yrs ago, we had 3 around the Twin Cities.
The one in Wyoming got torn down, and a church now stands there.
The one in Fridley (?)/Columbia Heights(?) got torn down, giant ins. co. office complex there.
The 65 Hi (Hiway 65) one is still standing, but has been closed for a while now.
The one I went to in Madison, SoDak, closed decades ago, but they tore the actual screen down just this spring. The lot just stands empty.
WOW, talk 'bout bringing back high school memories. double dating in my 57 Ford Fairlane 500, with 3 more kids in the trunk, in a town of 3000. Like they didn't know WTF we were doing. God, were we dumb or what?  \\; \\; \\;
Yep, and I remember going to that drive-in to see "Ol' Yeller" with Mom and Dad, 4 kids in a 58 Ford, brown grocery bag FULL of popcorn made in a cast iron skillet, and a big bottle of Dad's root beer to wash it down. It was the ONLY time \\;we were allowed to sit \\;ON the car, NOT in it.

Just a random thought that I had while reading another thread.

I grew up in Western Pennsylvania, although I'm in Southern California now. When I had my first bike, back in the early 70's, some of my friends and I used to take them to drive-in movies. We would bring a blanket and sit next to our bikes and the speakers and essentially have a drive-in picnic. And the fact that it attracted girls sure helped.
 \\;\\\\\\;
Now I can't even find a drive-in at all anymore. Most of you are probably even wondering what the hell I'm talking about.
 \\;\\\\\\;
Any drive-in left? And if so, any of them bike friendly?

We have one in Atlanta,Ga. Starlight Drive-in on Moreland avenue. But you don't want to go there on a bike. I think an armored vehicle might be a better way to go.

Whereabouts in Western PA, Dyna_Soar? \\;\\\\\\; That's where I grew up...and I remember the drive-ins well. \\;\\\\\\; Perhaps we frequented some of the same ones...

I lived in quite a few places in the Pittsburgh area. But I spent my High School years in Irwin, PA. I mostly went to the the Super-30 Drivein, right near the turnpike entrance on Route 30, the Old Lincoln Highway. Eventually, they tore it down for a shopping center. Sometimes we went to Greater Pittsburgh Drivein also.
