Default how to position your head during a curve

i know i know - position on top of and right in the middle of your shoulders

when i am doing a curve - like around 30 -50 mph - so more than a turn - i find that i do better if i keep my head straight - like perpendicular to the ground.

is this normal?

As long as you are turning your head to look through the corner, yes

...works for me. My body is leaning, but my head is looking around the curve.

It's more important to keep your mouth at just the right position or you may fall down. Sorry, couldn't resist. I find it best to hold my head and body in the most comfortable position for me. What others do usually doesn't affect my riding style unless they have a really good suggestion about something I'm doing wrong. Hold your head in any position that's comfortable for your riding style.

When I took the MSF advanced training course I was taught when taking a curve, look where you wanted to end up, not where you were pointing. Basicly, begin the curve by looking at the apex of the curve as you enter then continue that head angle looking through the curve until you've completed the turn.

I'm not great in the twistys but it did help me,

here guys i am talking about the angle as compared to the ground. i am lookg around the curve, that is my head (nose) is pointing in the direction i want the bike to go.

but as i a sweeping thru the curve, the bike is leaning and i am basically leaning at the same angle as the bike.

if my head was in line with my body, then it also would be at an angle with the ground.

what i do is to straighten it in relation to the ground.

so if i am making a curve to the right, my body and the bike will be leaning to the right, but my head will not be leaning as much. the distance from my left ear to my left shoulder will be less than the distance from my right ear to my right shoulder.

this allows me to look at the road more level or something

and that is right as i am turning my head and looking into the turn

Well it depends...If and only If I am wearing my noseless black leather ski mask...which by the way matches my black leather fingerless gloves AND my black leather assless chaps AND I have my Daytona HD t-shirt on along with my HD jacket & helmet do I position my head perpendicular to the street.

All other times...I am too busy looking at myself posing in the mirrors while I ride

I always adjust the angle of my head & nose to the ground (in curves) to avoid air turbulances from forming in my nostils.
