New to the forum and new to Harleys. Should be interesting!

Dealer today offered me 1000 off MSRP for a new '08 FXD. Still charging 1000 for prep and freight. Net is MSRP. Good, bad or indifferent? Located on Long Island.

$1000 off MSRP is good but $1000 freight and setup is outrageous.

Just paid MSRP on a 2009 FXDC, dealer waived the freight and setup...

 

It is not a really great deal. I think he could do a little bit better.

I'm a little partial to this dealer only because it's only about 2 miles from my house. Seems reasonable to support the local dealer. I've read some not so nice things, however, on the good dealer/bad dealer threads about local dealers. Is there any value to having a relationship established with the local dealer?

 

Of course there's value in establishing that relationship. But NOT at the risk of your wallet. Shop around, and if you're considering MSRP for an 08, I'd seriously be thinking about an 09. I mean think about here a minute. The 2010 models are coming out in about 9 months.

 

Try Newrock Harley in Newrochell NY ask for Jack the owner Its getting close to the end of Oct might do better there I got a 1000 off 09 fxd but hit me 795 frt and prep i was ok with it.
