I had a '60 Panhead with a rigid frame. Fun to ride but a bitch to start. Kick only. Had a little lever you had to throw to retard the timing so it would start easier. I neglected to use it one time and it kicked back so hard it lifted me off the ground (200+ lbs). I remember I was still limping when I sold it . Got $1500 for it, late 70's early 80's when I sold it. Should have kept it.

It was a 1972 XLH that I bought new when I was twenty years old. I put a 21 inch tire/wheel on the front and a 16 inch tire/wheel on the back and put four inch fork tube extensions on the front. Back then you had to buy the spokes and rims to make the conversion and take all the parts to a chrome shop to get them chromed. It sure has gotten easier to customize your bike in the last thirty-six years. Below is a picture of me on my Sporty back in 1972, and then thirty-five years later on my 1989 FXST. Looks like the apple didn't fall too far from the tree.

Yeah, it was a 1952 125cc, bought it in '59 for $35 bucks. Also had a Whizzer motorbike that I bought in '58, for $15 bucks. does'nt seem like much money now, but I sure cut grass, racked leaves, and shoveled a lot of snow to get those bikes
