Went to Barber Museum this weekend(lots of pics)
Hey guys,
My wife carried me for my birthday to the Barber Motosports Museum this past weekend in Birmingham, Alabama. I must say that it was definitely worth the drive. The museum had a large focus of Harleys, BMW's and some Japanese bikes but the majority were v twin bikes. There were all kinds of bikes that I had not ever heard of. Custom bikes, one off prototypes, record holding bikes, etc. We took about 5 hours going through it but if I were by myself I could have spent a weekend in there. If you guys are ever thinking about going then I would strongly suggest it. I am already thinking about getting a pair of tickets for the superbike races and carrying one of my kids back there this spring and riding the Harley.
Here is a bunch of pics.
This is two of the four racks in the common area for motorcycles:
They had a Porsche track class. Some of these guys were moving along a pretty quick pace:
This is a Harley dualsport bike. It runs on diesel and gas. It isn't used by the military anymore because they use klr650's.
This is a ducati st4. It did a ironbutt from Cali to NY in under 36 hours.
Check out the brake rotors on this bike:
other misc pics.
Jeff Wards hypermotard
fully carbon fiber body buell
wow this bike was awesome
this bike was used by shore patrol to help get ammo to soldiers in the field.

One of the best private collections I have ever seen is in Solvang California and that collection has both of the rotary machines. I'm heading to Barber this year for a couple of events but namely the Mustangs.
