It's been legal in several states for a couple years now. One of the "envogue" laws going around that all states end up copying before it is all over.

I haven't seen a sensor yet that can't be tripped by putting the kickstand out.

Personally, I view a light that doesn't change as a malfunctioning light and the rules of the road says treat a malfunctioning light as a stop sign.

If I sit for 2 cycles, I go when it is safe, legal or not.

It is also legal here in Pensylvania, but one thing "Government" asks is when you happen accross a light that is not sensing the bike, you report it to the muncipality it is located in.

Government can't fix it if they don't know its broke.

Most "sensors" are induction loops that are laid into the roadway, and they operate by ferrous metals(iron) interupting that loop when a vehicle pulls over them. With our bikes if the loop is not set sensitive eough to detect the slight interuption our vehicle causes, then it will not trigger the light system to change.

Once alerted to a light that is doing this, most municipalities will go out and tweek theot in the control box.

Here in Lawton, Oklahoma and most other larger cities in the state, we have motion sensors to trip the light. Well at least that what was explained to me. there are little cameras everywhere.
When they were first installed people were concern about them being traffic enforcement cameras. The city explain how they are not actually cameras but motion sensors.
I have not had a problem for years here in Lawton. therefore, I do not think it will effect most of the state since we all use the same system.

I not arguing that government is slow......and unreliable.... and so much other stuff. he he he But withthe technology today, you would think this issue could be resolved without a lot of cost. I live part time in Vegas and the sytem they have DOES trip the light for motorcycles so it can be done.

But as usual, government will put a bandaid on it and not fix the real problem, it will still cost us money and won't really do much good. I gotta feeling most of us will wait a minute or so at a light now. If it doesn't change, we just go. I've never had a problem doing this and there's never been a law saying I can do this. I think it's just commone sense. Oh wait.... we are talking about some government agency getting involved.... there is no common sense.
