NJ DMV has no common sense

why would you go to a state inspection station for a motorcycle? The few people who actually do get their bikes inspected go to private inspection facilities. Much less hassle and much more knowledgable about the law.

Here in PA,it's only a simple inspection.I think it's about $45.Don't have to go to the DMV.Always had an indy shop inspect all my bikes.Tires look good, lights and turn signals work.Just the basic once over.Never had a problem.Registration is about $20 a year.Insurance is $200 a year.Whoopty Doo!!! I'm not bitching.....

Exit 7
If you're at exit 7 the closest state inspection is Baker's Basin. That place is tought. When the State was doing inspections they trained the new inspectors there. It 's hard to get a cage to pass the first time let alone a bike. A few years back I bought a new vehicle from a Princeton dealer. I went straight to Baker's Basin to get it inspected. They failed me for loud mufflers! You should of went south to Mills. They are bike people and have a heart.

Why did you even go to inspection. I have not had my bike inspected for 5yrs. Same with everyone I ride with. None of us get inspected. As long as your not being a jackass out on the road the pigs don't even bother you.

Wow.
Here in Montana, no inspections and (for motorcycles) registration is "permanent": you only do it once, when you buy the bike, and that last until you sell it. The one-time registration fee was ~$90. The plate says "permanent" on it.

Technically, according to NJ law (39:3-54) flashing lights are prohibited motor vehicles except as signals or 4 ways.
But as it describes the purpose and use of 4 ways seems the same rationale could be used for flashing brakes.
"any vehicle may be equipped with lamps for the purpose of warning the operators of other vehicles of the presence of a vehicular traffic hazard requiring the exercise of unusual care in approaching, overtaking, or passing, and when so equipped, shall display such warning in addition to any other warning signals required by law"
That's precisely the purpose of flashing brake lights. I want the cager behind me to exercise unusual care as he approaches my stopping vehicle.
It's probably a case of the law not having caught up with technology. Someone needs to get a ticket and beat it in court to establish case law and get Trenton to add it as an exception. Any volunteers?
Wonder if ABATE has been involved in this issue at all?
For now, I'll probably put mine on a toggle switch or quick connect.
