+1 Was looking at one design that looked like a foot earlier today. Local shop had some that looked like a hockey puck but he sold out of them.

 

I keep one in my tourpak. And I have even used it also.

 

We keep a couple of 4" pieces of aluminum in the parking lot at work, the asphalt gets pretty soft in the Florida sun, otherwise I use a piece of wood or a flattened can.

i would never buy one, but here in NY i keep one in bags and use it all the time. someones always giving them away great idea.

 

I use a crushed beer can.

 

Carry one with me always, use it once in a great while. They are great when you need one, but you rarely do.

 

Depends on what your doing with your bike. I carry four on the Ultra. I ride with the Patriot Guard and seem to find myself and my bike in the grass a lot. ( We tend to park out of the way at missions)

So I carry the one I use, with a string attached for easy placement and retrieval, and three spares for the hard cores that never need them, or think they can find a beer or pop can in a cemetery.

For all the bigger they are and the room they need, they are one of those good to have and not need, then need and not have, items.

 

I use mine all the time. Got a miller lite one at a ride and don't know how I lived without it. My softail custom will sink into hot asphlat pretty deep if its a sunny day and more than 90 degrees out.

 

I've had this problem in the hot weather here in Reno. I've ended up with lots of clean up on the kickstand (gobs of asphalt). I carry one and use it if the temp is above 85.

I also use one in the garage to protect the floor.
