I just installed a smoked lowprofile smoked lens. I used a red 3157 bulb and it melted after 1 day of riding, so I bought another lens but this one has a raised section around the bulb area.
Has anyone else experienced this and is the raised section supposed to stop the bulb from melting the lens? I hate to keep buying stuff I dont need. I just dont like the look of the available LED's that are out right now.

 

Melted my first lens, went to a led bulb that plugs into the stock socket. No heat problems in 4 years.

 

Do you need a load equalizer with those LED bulbs?

 

Only if youre converting the turn signals. Here we are referring to just a brake/tail light.
