What size socket?
I need to remove the rear brake (flat tire) and need a 12 point socket. What size is it?

It can't be a 1/4 - too small. 1/4 fits the brake pad pins. I need to remove the 2 larger bolts that hold the entire assembly onto the frame. I can't remove the wheel unless the entire brake assembly is removed and the manual (big one) doesn't say anything about it.

I removed my front brake assembly yesterday. I used a 12 point #10 metric. Fit perfect.

I see you've got an '07 FXSTC...I've got an '07 Train...when I changed my rear pads, I didn't know what size that bolt was either...don't remember now, just that it was a standard size...
I do remember that I just slipped a few sockets on there till I found it...wasn't that big a deal... |
No one asked what bike he was WORKING on. Most assumed it was the one in his sig I reckon. As for the #10 metric, (10 mm), that is very close to 7/16". I use both, almost interchangebly at different times, depending on which is more close to hand. You'll find that alot of times you can use a metric wrench on SAE bolts/nuts, just be careful the fit isn't so loose that you round the hex head.
