Default Leather pants: which ones best?

Looking at opinions on leather overpants. I ride in a wide variety of situations. Daily commutes and 20-30 day-long tours. Rain, heat and cold. Need something versatile, but good value for money, as I'm cheap. What do you'all think?

Foxcreek Leather

$345, best feature: zipper goes all the way up outside of leg, so easy on & off. I have two Foxcreek jackets and they are top notch quality. No claim to waterproof, and no armour.

FXRG

$425, supposed to be waterproof, but are they really? Don't know about ease of getting in and out of them. Good armour.

Aerostitch

Transit pants: $700, but claim to be waterproof, and heat reflective. Good armour.

Oh come on. $425 for a pair of leather pants?? You can buy a pair of leather 5 pocket jeans from Jaminleather.com for $100 and they are as good as any you will find. I have a pair that i've been wearing for 6 years and they're still holding up good. Just don't get the pants made out of buffalo leather unless you plan on staying outside while wearing them. They are thick and great for winter riding but extremely hot indoors. I had a pair of those and they were definitely ***-heaters. Got rid of them and got the regular leather version.

Go with Fox Creek (if you don't mind wearing overpants). You already know their quality and you can make them water repellent with a good leather dressing. Made in USA, too.

I remember when I saw one of these leather pants threads for the first time...
I ran it by some women I know who ride and their decision was unanimous...
They said that unless a guy looks like Jim Morrison in the early years, stay away from the leather pants...

I wear a white full-face helmet: more focused on function than looks

Default It hard to say.

If you test them they are usually no good. You can't tell if they are good without testing.

I got a pair of H-D leather pants in '06 for $99 + tax. That was when H-D Motorclothes stopped making them, so they were on clearance. I like 'em, don't care about anyone else.

I've been thinking about getting some. chaps are a PITA to get to your pockets and stuff and the leather overpants would have their pown pockets plus in cold weather you won't freeze your man berries off. I just have in th eback of my mnd thay they are very ***

Chaps are better. Question? How does a fart get out of a pair of leather pants?
