I think when your ready for a touring model..
Once you have it, you never look back.
Not a single regret since I purchased my RK...
Except maybe for a full faring.
But...I have still kept my sporty for some local fun.

An Ultra is an old man's bike? THAT'S good news... I'm 60 and still haulin *** on my Train...I won't have to get an Ultra till I get OLD!

I'm 'older' and even though I do have a Road King I still prefer to ride my Wide Glide or Fat Boy.

The guy that has been using my Road King for the past year is half my age, and he prefers it over any Dyna or Softail.

I think the model you like to ride is just a personal preference, no matter what your age.

I'm with you, man..... I turn 61 in 2 weeks (than you very much) and am NOT ready for a stratolounger. and NO bags on my Fatty, except the swingarm bag.

Congrats on the bagger! I recently went the opposite way, moving from an Ultra Classic to a Softail Custom.
