I mistook filling lubes into my 2009 FXSTB.
Hi all.
I have a question.
I changed all lubes by myself for my 2009 FXSTB last week but I mistook filling them.
The lubes are RevTech.
I filled the primally lube into the transmission and filled the transmission lube into the primally case.
I realized that I mistook it soon after that and didn't ride at all.
I will re-change them on weekend but it is winter here Japan now.
So the lubes are hard.
Should I ride a little for warming before the re-changing?
Or
Shouldn't I ride?
I want to know it because if I actually ride mine before the re-changing, the transmission might have damage because of the soft primally lube.
I hope that I can get good advices.
All advices will be appreciated.
Regards.

Since you can't ride it to get the oils warmed up I would just run the engine up to operating temp then shut it down for a while and do again until the transmission case and primary case get warm. This will warm up the fluids inside enough to get most of the oils out. Make sure you drain them when the cases are warm.
You should be able to even save the oils and use them again in the proper holes.

Conbanwa Nori-san,
I like Juves idea to re-use the fluids but I wouldn't run the motor and spin the primary chain and clutch pack in case it stirred up any contaminants that you would then put into the tranny.
I would just drain them both cold and reuse in the correct places. The small amount of fluid remaining in each place after a cold drain, in my opinion, would not do any harm.
You can let them drain for a long time drip by drip when they are almost empty to get as much fluid out as possible.
Just my thinking...

I would think that whatever you now have in the primary is good enough. Just redo the tranny with the intended fluid.

Drain cold, take your time. Go back new.
