Milwaukee County Bus Crashes Through Harley Davidson Gates
From the local front:
Several Injured In Saturday's Crash
MILWAUKEE -- Several people were injured Saturday after a Milwaukee County Transit System bus crashed through a gate made of brick and iron outside the headquarters of Harley Davidson.
The bus was traveling westbound on 37th Street and Highland Avenue when witnesses said a mini-van cut in front of the bus.
"The driver didn't have enough time to stop and when he swerved to avoid the van he slammed right through the fence," a passenger said. The mini-van ended up hitting a tree. The front door of the bus was smashed in, so rescuers entered through the back door.At least seven people were injured, including someone in the mini-van.A number of people on the bus were taken to the hospital on stretchers.
Elizabeth Sheriff was on the bus during the incident. She said she hurt her wrist but, unlike numerous other passengers, didn't go to the hospital.
"The front window shattered and it was cutting people and stuff. It was crazy," Sheriff said.
12 News spoke to the bus driver’s wife, who said her husband called her after he made sure the passengers weren’t critically hurt.
"He said the car had cut in front of him. When I talked to him, when I made it here, he said a car cut in front of him and he had no other choice. He said the car was speeding when it cut in front of him," the driver's wife Regina Anderson said.
A family member of two passengers, Omar Williams, raced to the scene after the accident to check on his daughter and grandson.
"One of the firemen just came off and he said my grandson is fine. So my daughter has the sprained ankle so far," Williams said.
Passengers in the bus said the crash was a very frightening experience.

Sorry to hear about people getting injured. Just goes to show ya.....Don't mess with anything Harley related. If it had been a gate at a honda facility the bus probably would have been fine and not even had a scratch.

No if it was a Honda plant gate it would have opened electronically and automatically and the bus would have been greeted by a computerize voice saying "Good Afternoon round eye"

That's some funny chit there for sure!!!

The funny thing is Honda doesnt have gates in front of their facilities here, just a guy in a gaurd shack. So beware of the Civic driving security guy.

Hope the gates weren't part of some registered National Historic Landmark or something made in 19 - 0 - whatever. Also glad everyone's ijuries seemed relatively minor.
