I almost purchased an HD Jet II helmet today. I wanted to do a little more reading on it before I took the 150 $ plunge.

I just however, found out about the Ultra Jet II... I can't tell from any of the pics online, but does this shield retract back into the helmet?

it says on HD's website that "Interchangeable face shield converts to a visor for a traditional open-face shell." Sorry if this question seems really stupid, just wanted to make sure before I bought it online.

Nope. The shield is removable and the visor is installed.

 

The shield does not retract into the shell, it pivots over it.

 

I was at the dealer and saw a HD helmet that had a retractable shield that slid up into the helmet Looked very star wars Was pretty cool Short sheild and it slid on grooves up into the helmet Not sure this is the one your talking about but they do have one that does that

 

The visor is removable, the shield flips up above the helmet. They are not used in conjunction. It's either or. I love mine. You can get the same helmet from HJC, it's AC-3, for much less. They make it for Harley. You can get the carbon fiber version for about the same price as the HD UltraJet. the Jet II I know pivots over it, but does the ultra jet? or does it attach/detach?

 

The shield on the Ultra Jet pivots up, and is detachable. It can be replaced with the visor.
