HP 100+ Torque 100+ How do you hang on?

If you did a little research, you'd find that the Honda CBR 900RR was the first production bike to do 200 off the showroom floor. After I had it bored out, jetted, and regeared it was up to 160HP (not that Ducati doesn't make a production bike that has 170HP, I'll let you look it up).

Check out the big brain on mcrider! I'll see if I can dig up the dyno sheet on the CBR. I wish I could take credit for the work-it was done by a pretty well known guy in the street racing scene in Tampa. It's been a long time since I owned that bike. Yes, not all the fastest bikes you find are on a track. I think the fastest bike I ever saw was a guy with a GXR 1000 with nitrous. Used to drag the causeways down there. Any rate, that bike was hard to hang onto (back to the thread at hand).

Top-speed and acceleration are two totally different beasts. Which are we arguing? You could potentially have a very aerodynamic, low-power, light vehicle reach very high top-speeds with the right gearing and tune.
Harleys (left anything like stock) and even high-powered "naked" bikes will never compete with fairing-ed bikes at high speeds, but given how rarely I find a stretch where I can "confidently" break 150 on my Harley, the ability to go 200 isn't as interesting to me as the ability to go from 0-60 quickly, or even 60-90.

But my question dealt more with how much power do you need or can handle with an 800 pound motorcycle. Apparently you folks need and can handle more than I. Which confirmed my final thought. Your all crazy.

I would be very interested in seeing a serious test that has gotten the 900RR up to 200 mph.

Like someone else said, you should offer your "secret formula" to the MotoGP teams. Those bikes put out 220-240 hp and they can't even get close to 250 mph.
Don't you see anything strange in all this?
