Put one on my '79 Shovel, use to get up on the seat with my left leg bent to the knee, and come down a couple prime kicks with the right and whoosh! she's start on the 3rd kick. Elec. starts ar enice but nothing gets the heart pumping like kicking an 'ol Harley over, lost art if you ask me.

My 1981 Shovelhead has both an electric starter and a 'kicker', also has the chain final drive.
The electric start never worked correctly, so it was mainly just a kicker.
I still own that Shovelhead. Put A LOT of miles on that bike, but it was finally 'retired'..
Of course my 1949 Panhead and 1972 FX SuperGlide were kickers, in fact the first Harley I owned without a kick start was my 1996 EVO WideGlide.
It's amazing how many people these days ask about putting a working kicker on their TC's...

Remember a co-worker coming to work with a broken leg after his Shovelhead threw him over the bars. You would have to know this nerdy guy as we all cried laughing at his misfortune. I wish kick starters were still an option as they are nice on a bad battery day.
