Just went thru the inspection (again) 2 months ago. 2 years ago they were checking the emissions but not always the sound check. Earlier this year they started with the sound check for all bikes. Before the 1200 kit I could just pass. Now I gotta use the stock stuffed with steel wool and lean it way out. Definitely keeping all my stock stuff that I have.

Looking at the complete exhaust, not just mufflers, with shipping, quite a bit of it costs $200 or more but the majority does seem to be in the $100-150 range.

Just curious.... Will slip ons, whatever brand alter the noise/emissions enough to make them illegal. My 2010 is still stock but want to do something come spring.

Kept the stock exhaust off my Heritage Softail for 9 years and dumped it after I sold the bike. Keeping the stock exhaust off my 48 - just in case of whatever.

Mine are hanging in the garage as garage art, I'll hang on to them in case I need them when the EPA gods get their way.

My experience with parts is that it is always best to keep anything that could be used again.
