If this thread stays around long enough, I'll be able to tell you. I just got fitted yesterday for the Chameleons with the accoustical filter.

I used to wear the cheap foam plugs when I had my Jeep in the 90s….. went to Santa Fe last week on the bike and on the ride back didn’t wear the balaclava for the 550 mile trip and my ears were ringing by the time I got home and I couldn’t hear very well the next day……
Never again…. Next trip I will damn sure have some of those cheap foam earplugs. It surely has to reduce fatigue by a significant amount to not be blasted with that wind noise.

You will love them. I've tried the foam ones, the mushroom silicone ones & others. There is nothing like the custom molded plugs. The cost is well worth it if it's 45-60 bucks. I even bought the ones that you mold yourself. They work when I'm mowing the lawn but at 75mph the customs are the best. And I'm talking without a wind shield. With a wind shield everything works.

so do the expensive custom made plugs stay in place? I know the cheap-o foam ones do, but just how do the custom made plugs stay in place if you're riding helmetless, or with just a 1/2 helmet?

Foam is okay, but they won't match custom plugs in regards to fit.
