Salvage title...how much does it hurt resale?

Everything depends on what you want the bike for. If it is to be a bike for You to ride for a few years or for you to keep indefinately, I would buy a rebuilt as long as I knew the history of the damage. If the guy has pictures of the before and after and it had/has no frame damage I wouldn't be afraid to buy it. I ride a rebuilt daily, but I rebuilt it myself. I inspected every inch of the bike and was comfortable buying it at the price I got it for. I don't plan on selling it because I love it and it is all I want and need.
All that said I got it real cheap and did all the work myself and even after the repairs it was still 1/2 what I would have paid for a clean titled bike. I had no problem at all insuring it.

I have done 2 bikes from salvage. 1 is my current ride but it actually had a clear title so it wasnt a problem with insurance. I dont plan on selling it any time soon. The other was a Honda I bought a long time ago in a yard. It had a salvage title. I rebuilt it, insured it, rode it for a year or so and sold it for a little over double the total investment. Bottom line is that these kind of things can go either way. Profit or Loss.

From what I've seen bent front forks and dented fuel tanks will be enough to total most bikes. A set of new take off forks and a new tank can be had for not too much and the bike is as good as new. A salvage title can be a nice way to afford a decent bike.

looked at the photos you posted, don't see any damage, can only assume bike is already repaired and insured by current owner. If this is true you should be asking him these ?'s, my guess is he is trying to make a huge profit on this bike, unless them are before crash pics, then see if you can post pics with the damage

Each bike has to be assessed on it's individual merits. A Salvage title is no different, if the bike has been repaired properly and the price is right (about 60% of a clear title) it might be worth considering ONLY if you plan on keeping and riding it.
If you are looking to flip it, walk away, it's impossible in this market to turn a $ on a used bike even with a clear title, unless you're a dealer.
