That's a common practice. HD is not in the helmet or clothing manufacturing business, and you'll often find their suppliers offering the identical item without the bar & shield for far less.

Everyone copies that boot, first pair I owned was about 40 years ago as a kiddo. It's not a new design.

A lot of manufacturers do this...small subtle changes, but basically the same boot...you will probably pay more to have the HD logo...JMO

I really like them, comfortable and good wearing.

HJC makes many of the HD Helmets which are based on HJC models. I tried to get parts for my Harley Jet I helmets at my dealer and was told they no longer carry hinges or face shields as they were "discontinued" and I had to buy a Jet II helmet. This was last year. Found the parts on a HJC site last month.

Fortunately I didn't buy a Jet II, But will buy the HJC helmet next time because it is about 35% less expensive without the HD logo.

I've had the Pecos for a few years & it's a nice boot. I think it is made for both companies by Milwaukee but I could be wrong. You can find the Pecos for under 100 too

Went with Double H's myself, nice boot and not a terrible price. If you are looking at harness boots you cant do much better for the money IMO. Corse, you could always go for broke and get a pair of Wesco boots http://www.westcoastshoe.com/.
