Default Acknowledging Fellow Bikers When Passing By.

I always give a greeting, like a handshake when passing other bikers.

I see many offer their hand, like a moving hand shake. A few wave hello from handle bar height, others drop their hand down to their side to wave, or give some hand signal, often a peace sign.

I know it's all a form of greeting / acknowledging each other but, is there some kind of history to this gesturing?

What do you do, and why?

Do you acknowledge crotch rockets? Goldwings?

(yup ... bored ... 5 weeks without a bike ride.)

When I rode my sport bikes, I acknowledged them with my hand wave... cruisers nor scooters I bothered with; kinda snobby hd / cruiser riders, not sure why...I know I would've stopped if I see a biker go down, weather he's on a cruiser or a sport bikes; go figure

You know if you don't want to answer this question again then move on.

Not everyone has lived on this board since it's inception and hundreds of repeat questions pop up. Just f'in move on if you don't want to respect my question!!!!

I wave at anything on two wheels. It probably started back when there were very few riders vs. cars/trucks on the road.

As for "snobby" had every type of bike rider not return a wave. Some wave some don't.

I usually wave. I rode a sports bike for years, so I also wave at sports bikes. I usually even wave at BMW's.
