Harley fork oil...atf?
#11
Ok, to correct myselff, I am running the HD SE heavy duty fo which is 20 wt.
Here are the letter to weight designations I found-
'E'-5 wt
'B'-10wt
Screaming Eagle-15 wt
Screaming Eagle heavy duty-20 wt.
The heavier the oil the better dampening you will feel. I did find a site where the guy said something about using ATF in the forks too....

When the fork oil was changed in my Deuce at the dealership I thought they must have used concrete as it rode like a buckboard after they changed it. I haven't changed it since as I spend most of my time on the Ultra, but I think, based on the fork oil chart I am gonna go back to the type E, I dunno what is in it right now.

I got the E. It's much thinner than what was in it. Going to ride some this weekend so we'll see if I can tell the diff. going to leave the fork brace off too just to see if it has an effect, I really don't like the way it looks and would rather leave it off if it doesn't do much.

i like the se, not the race. it gives a good firm feeling, reduces dive under braking, and just improves the overall feel. i used iclicks post to do the switchover in my road king, but it looks to be more involved in the road glide, so i haven't gotten that far yet.....

There are 2 SE fork oils, performance heavy weight & racing extra heavy so is the heavy 15 & the extra 20?

I used 15 weight for a time on my 90 fxrs, way too stiff for the bumpy backroads I ride most of the time. Went back to type E. If I rode on mostly smooth interstate or the like, I'd probably go with something a little heavier.
