Spark Plug frequency
#21
Usually in the spring. Last year, I just cleaned and regapped. I'll throw in some new ones this year, they're so cheap, why not? What a difference from the old Shovelhead and XLCH days when you had to carry plugs with you for use at a moments notice.

Tip
While we are on sparkplugs, a good idea on all bikes but especially the newer ones that run hotter is to put some anti-seize on the plugs! Even if new, warm the bike up and ease the plugs out and put the anti-sieze on. When you do have to replace plugs later on it may save you from galling the threads on the plug or more likely stripping the threads in the cylinder head.
They are supposed to put anti-seize on the plugs at the 1000 mile service and the 5000 mile at the dealership but always asked to be sure!

What does you pay for plugs. I know it's not a biggie, but I just paid $4.50 each and that seems a bit high. Seems like last time it was just short of $4.00 each.

I guess I will change mine at my next oil change. I still have the original plugs in. 69,000 miles and runs the same as when I bought it. Unless they where changed when the bike was in for numerous warranty repairs (lemon) and I was not told about it.

Don't forget to put a dab of anti seize on the threads....if they gall or corrode in there you will go crazy trying to get them out.
